DAY 1 Toronto – Nice | Montreal Nice
Meet with your tour representative at the airport. Assistance with check-in and flight to Nice. Meals and movies on board.
DAY 2 Nice – San Remo – Genoa
Upon arrival, you are welcomed by your European guide who will be with you from the beginning to the end of this dream trip to Italy. Set off to Nice, the capital of the Côte d’Azur, bordered by the bay of Angels. In the beautiful setting between sea and mountains, you have free time to explore the famous Promenade des Anglais along the seafront, beaches, gardens and entertainment districts. Continue to next destination via the panoramic motorway overlooking the Riviera dei Fiori. Lunch en route. Discover San Remo, known worldwide for its culture of flowers, floats, parades as well as the famous San Remo Italian song festival. Continue towards the region of Genoa. Dinner and lodging at hotel Idea Genova San Biagio 4-star or similar.
DAY 3 Genoa – Cinque Terre – Portovenere Genoa
Day, devoted to exploration of Cinque Terre, five villages with colorful houses: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore. Time seems to stop for this area between sky and sea, nestled on the hill slopes carpeted with vineyards. A paradise to be discovered during your trip by train and boat. This is a very popular Italian walking tour along the most beautiful and well-marked path Via dell’Amore: magic moments with breathtaking views that will bewitch you. Lunch. In the afternoon, free time followed by boat ride towards the small island of Palmaria, wild and fragrant, to reach Portovenere, at the tip of a peninsula in the Gulf of Poets. Visit of this resort, an example of perfect marriage between the nature and architecture of the local houses in endless colors and narrow streets. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
DAY 4 Genoa – Milan – Lake Maggiore
Tour Genoa with your local guide and experience the fascinating labyrinth of narrow streets in the old city, its monuments and masterpieces: the Palazzi dei Rolli – recognized as a World Heritage site by UNESCO, the exterior of the Palazzo Ducale and the Cathedral of St. Lawrence. Lunch and departure to Milan. Panoramic tour of downtown Milan, capital of Lombardy: the Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, the exterior view of the famous La Scala theater and the Sforzesco Castle. DAY 5 Borromean Islands – Stresa – Lake Orta
Travel towards Stresa. Private speedboat to the Borromean Islands and Isola Bella, the most famous of the three isles. With your local guide, visit the interior of the Baroque palace of the Borromeo family and experience the fabulous Italian garden consisting of ten terraces. Return to Stresa. Lunch and tour of this architectural jewel situated across from the Borromean Islands. Depart for the peaceful Lake Orta, surrounded by graceful landscapes with century old houses. Visit its picturesque streets which all lead into the town center and the old market square. Enjoy your dinner!
DAY 6 Lake Major – Verona – Cison di Val Marino
Travel to Verona via the Serenissima motorway, which crosses the Pianura Padana. With your local guide, walk in the beautiful city of Verona, caught in a loop of the Adige river on hills dotted with cypresses. This is the most beautiful city of art in Veneto, after Venice. For some, Verona remains the city of the tragic love of Romeo and Juliet. Guided tour of the Market Piazza delle Erbe, the old town, the Scaligeri castle, the Roman arena and more. Stop and savor your lunch. Travel to the region of Treviso to experience Cison di Valmarino. Just as Antonio Canova, Ottavio Scotti, the Lords of Carrara, Queen Margherita, among others, you will spend the night in one of the largest castles of Italian nobility in Europe. Save some time and room for the traditional Italian five course dinner in the village. Hotel Castel Brando 4-star.
DAY 7 Follina – Prosecco Road – Treviso – Veneto Region
Free time at the castle. Travel via a road that winds through the hills to the village of Follina, where a beautiful palace stands near the famous abbey that dominates the city. Five course dinner feast. The Prosecco Road continues through a landscape of vineyards and chestnut forests. Regional wine tasting. Discover the walled city of Treviso, recognized as a city of art and history as well as a city of wine and gastronomy: the Piazza dei Signori and the Palazzo dei Trecento, the old town hall built in 1217. Walk under the arcades of the Calmaggiore Road, the largest and most popular in the city. Dinner and accommodation in the Venice area for 2 nights. Hotel Villa Stucky 4-star or similar.
DAY 8 Venice – Veneto Region
Travel by train to Grand Canal at the heart of Venice, rightly called the “Serenissima”. Built on 117 islands connected by 400 bridges, it is a miracle on the water. Along the canals, the facades of palaces recall the prestige and wealth experienced by the city during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Take a walk over the Rialto Bridge to the Bridge of Sighs, then, with a local guide, to the famous St. Mark’s Square. Tour the square, the interior of the Basilica and exterior of the imposing Palazzo Ducale, the Campanile and the Clock Tower. Lunch. In the afternoon, visit a glass-blowing workshop and have free time to stroll through the maze of narrow streets and explore the varied neighborhoods. In the evening, enjoy a boat ride on the Grand Canal, a beautiful waterway that winds through the city, “Venice illuminated.” The nearby Palaces are almost all bearing the names of once powerful families in their architecture and summarize five centuries of Venetian history: a fascinating journey not to be missed – Venice is synonymous with romance! Return by boat and train to the hotel.
DAY 9 Ravenna – Florence
Travel to Ravenna, a city with provincial allure located on the Adriatic coast and internationally recognized for its Byzantine style monuments with its mosaics found in the Basilica of San Vitale (interior visit). Lunch. With a local guide, walk through this rare and precious city where Dante, author of The Divine Comedy rests. Cross the Apennines of Emilia Romagna and Tuscany. DAY 10 Florence
Travel by train to downtown Florence, the capital of Tuscany and vast monument to the Renaissance – a real open-air museum. With a local guide, explore the historical Piazza del Duomo with its Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore – the glorious result of six centuries history and labor, that has the largest masonry dome ever built. Visit the Baptistery, the church of Santa Croce and Piazza Della Signoria. Relax during lunch. Enjoy free time in the afternoon for personal exploration, shopping or visiting museums. Return to the hotel in the early evening. Dinner.
DAY 11 Florence – Pisa – Perugia
Day devoted to exploring Tuscany. Pisa, with its beautiful architectural ensemble of the Square of Miracles: the famous Leaning Tower and mysterious white marble, the prestigious Duomo and the Baptistery. Continuation of the Wine Route, surrounded by vineyards. Hearty country lunch. In the afternoon, depart for Perugia by the scenic Lake Trasimeno. Arrive in the charming Etruscan city of Perugia, the chocolate capital. Visit exterior of Palazzo dei Priori, the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and Fontana Maggiore. DAY 12 Corciano – Assise – Nola
Travel to Corciano whose castle, rampart walls and narrow streets form one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Continue to Assisi, gracefully situated on the slopes of Mount Subasio, and visit the interior of the Basilica of St. Francis, erected in 1253, consisting of two superimposed churches sheltering impressive works of Martini, Giotto, Maso and Cimabue. Lunch. Travel to Nola, located in Campania, near Vesuvius. Dinner. Accommodation for 3 nights. Hotel Idea 4-star or similar.
DAY 13 Pompeii – Sorrento – Amalfi Coast – Nola
Travel to Pompeii. With a local guide, visit the remains of the magnificent Roman city engulfed by a huge eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, and surprisingly well preserved. Continue to Sorrento, the city of gardens, lemon and orange trees. Special lunch. In the afternoon, drive the spectacular coastal road along the Amalfi Coast from the Gulf of Naples to Salerno to admire some of the most famous and picturesque landscapes in the world. Photo stop at Positano, a village clinging to a cliff, the sight of which will leave you breathless. Stopover and free time in Amalfi, a city with Spanish allure, the largest city on the coast. Return to the hotel and enjoy your dinner.
DAY 14 Island of Capri – Naples – Nola
Travel across the gulf to the island of Capri, a small paradise only six by three kilometers large on the blue waters of the Mediterranean, and widely sung about by the poets. With a local guide, visit the Gardens of Augustus, the Piazzetta and Chartreuse Saint-Jacques. Promenade at the heart of this paradise. Lunch and free time. Return to Naples by boat, followed by a brief orientation tour of the city. Return to the hotel and bon appetite for dinner!
DAY 15 Anagni – Roma
Travel to Anagni, the city of the Popes, which retains its Middle Ages appearance. Outside tour, followed by a delicious lunch. Continue to Rome, the capital of Italy and an extraordinary city, witness to ancient history and now populated with numerous palaces telling the story of different eras and styles. Lunch. DAY 16 Roma
Full day with a local guide. Tour by subway and foot to the incomparable city of Rome, often called the Eternal City, filled with a millennial history. Classic Rome: its most beautiful monuments such as the Fori Imperiali, the Arch of Constantine and the Coliseum exterior. Lunch. In the afternoon, tour the Baroque Rome: the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Free time. Dinner in the heart of Rome. Back to the hotel by private shuttle.
DAY 17 Roma
Travel by public transport for a walk in the city. Lunch. With a local guide, visit the Catholic Rome: the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel, a masterpiece of the Renaissance, painted by Michelangelo, the Basilica and St. Peter’s Square. Farewell dinner with wine and live music. Back to the hotel by private shuttle.
